Koruso! at the Tate Gallery – 18th June 2016 at 5pm

As part of the celebrations to launch the new wing of the Tate Gallery on London’s Southbank. artist Peter Liversidge has been working with community choirs across London to develop a performance to be staged on 18th June 2016.

Using the architecture of the new building, the collection, Tate’s Twitter feed and visitor feedback as key influences, Liversidge has worked collaboratively with a range of community groups to create songs about Tate Modern. These songs will be performed by Koruso! and other choirs from across London in the Turbine Hall.

The new Tate Modern will open in June 2016 with a complete re-hang. With 60% more display space, the world’s most popular gallery of modern art will now feature over 250 artists from around 50 countries. The Turbine Hall will become the heart of the new Tate Modern, with the existing 6-storey Boiler House on one side and the new 10-storey Switch House rising above the Tanks on the other. It will offer a variety of spaces for visitors and for art, from the industrial Tanks to a panoramic roof terrace overlooking London. There will also be new urban spaces to the south.

500 voices are going to make an amazing sound.  What a fantastic way to launch this fantastic new exhibition space!
